What Is A Guardian Home?

Our Guardian Home Program allows for families that live within an easy drive to Littleton, Colorado to have our “pick of the litter puppy”. In addition to our Pick of the litter puppies, from time to time we may have an excellent adolescent/adult breeding dog as well.

These Guardian Home pooches are placed for just a fraction of the price. The Guardian Home puppy or dog is part of the Guardian Home’s Family forever, while the breeding rights are retained by MileHigh Doodles. There are time limits on a breeding dog’s career (each situation is slightly different so we prefer to work out specific details with each family on an individual basis.) Once the Guardian Dog has completed his/her breeding career, he/she will be spayed or neutered at our expense, and will remain a forever pet of their Guardian Family!

Is There a Cost Involved to Be a Guardian Home?

The cost of a Guardian Home dog/puppy requires a deposit of $500.00 of the standard pet price (standard pet price is $3000) regardless of the age, gender, color, or size of the puppy/ dog. When the Guardian puppy/dog has completed its breeding career for us, we will transfer all registration paperwork into Guardians name.

Our Guardian Home Families are responsible for the general routine veterinary care and wellness of the Guardian puppy/dog placed with them. This means annual vaccines, feeding a high-quality dog food, grooming, organic flea/tick prevention, training, regular exercise and socialization, and most importantly all the love and care and attention possible.

Any “breeding related” medical costs for the Guardian Dog are the expense of MileHigh Doodles. Our Guardian Homes are only responsible for routine maintenance and medical care just as they would if they had their own dog.

What Are the Benefits of Being a Guardian Home?

A Guardian Family gets what we consider to be the very best that MileHigh Doodle’s has to offer in the Bernedoodle! This means that we choose our breeding stock based on the best qualities that families have known, loved, and come to expect in one of MileHigh's Bernedoodles, Inc. Not only are we known for our pooches exceptional beauty, outstanding health and fantastic overall consistency in temperament, you and your pooch will also get to be a small part in the advancement of our wonderful breed.

Another added benefit to our Guardian Families is that their Guardian dog or puppy will be completely health tested at the expense of MileHigh Doodles prior to entering our breeding program at no cost to the Guardian Family.  Our Guardian Families get to enjoy the excitement of being a part of our breeding program, and seeing the offspring of their very own Guardian dog be placed with families across the country and throughout the world bringing others the same joy and happiness that they have received from their Guardian Dog!

What Are the Obligations of Being a Guardian Home?

As a Guardian Home you agree to raise, train and care for a dog throughout their entire breeding career.

When you are chosen to be part of the MileHigh Doodles Guardian Home program, we will place you with a pick of the litter puppy at approximately 9 weeks old.  You will pay for all normal cost of the care and medical expenses of raising a family pet.  MileHigh Doodles will pay for all reproductive testing for your puppy between ages 3- 12 months to determine if your puppy meets our highest breeding health and temperament standards.

If your dog does not pass it’s  testing for breeding dogs, you will pay for the spay or neuter of the dog and we will transfer the ownership of the dog and retire the dog from our breeding program and it will remain your family pet, at no additional fee to you.

If your dog does pass its testing it will become a breeding dog for MileHigh Doodles.  If you have a female she will deliver between 4-5 litters for MileHigh Doodles.  She will come to our home during her heat cycle for breeding and then back home to you.  She will remain with you throughout her pregnancy and come back to us during her deliveries and until the puppies are weaned.  Once she has had 4-5 litters MileHigh Doodles will have her spayed and she will retire with you at no additional fee.

If you are a guardian home for a male stud, once he passes his reproductive testing there will be times when natural breeding is required and he will need to come to our home during that process.  There will also be times Artificial Insemination is required and you will be required to meet us at our Reproductive Vets office to collect semen for that process.  Once we have determined we have used him to the fullest potential for our breeding program we will notify you.  At that time MileHigh Doodles will have him neutered per our agreement and he will retire with you at no additional fee.
